Light
What is Light
Light is what is what let's us see things. light travel’s in straight lines as a wave. light has wavelength of 1/2000 or 0.005 mm. it is a form of electromagnetic spectrum known as visible light. light (visible) is transferred through space at a speed of 300 000km/s. The main source of light is the sun, however there are other source of light e.g. light bulb, fire, torches. etc. Most of the things that we see reflects light e.g. the moon. Some object refract light (bends light) and some object absorbs light.
Other form of electromagnetic spectrum:
*UV rays
*Gamma Rays
*X-rays
*Microwaves
*Ultraviolet
*Infra-Red Radiation
*Radio Waves
Visible light
Visible light is what the name states, it's visible. Visible light is made up of several colours of wavelength (as seen in a rainbow). There are 7 colours making up the visible light and they are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Violet has the shortest wavelength and red has the longest.
Lights Movement
The law of reflection states that the angle of the reflected ray (hitting the mirror) is equal to the angle of the reflected ray (bouncing off the mirror around an ‘imaginary line’)– the normal which is a drawn at right angles to the mirror. If light hit's an object that absorbs it, the light stops at the object. The light doesn't come back or go trough the object. When light hit's an object that refract it like water or glass, the light bends. When the light is inside the object it is bent towards the 90˚ angel, then when it leaves the object it keeps heading to it's original direction.
Mirrors
Mirrors are used to reflect light in other words bend it.
Today's mirrors are made of a glass layer and backed with a thin metal layer sealed together by paint or plastic.
